Mr Keith Chapman RFD LLB CPA Chairperson Keith Chapman is the Principal Registrar of the Supreme Court and a Magistrate. His adult daughter has cerebral palsy and therefore Keith has been closely involved with the work of The Centre for Cerebral Palsy for many years. He has served on the Board of the Disability Services Commission, on the Ministerial Advisory Council and as President of the Guardianship and Administration Board. Keith is also currently the Treasurer of Cerebral Palsy Australia.
Mr Carrick Robinson Deputy Chairperson Carrick Robinson has had a 25 year career in Marketing and Communications, advising many of Australasia’s leading brands in WA, NSW and New Zealand. He is now a small business owner with interests in Motor Vehicle Accessories and Property Development. Carrick is also currently a board member of Anglicare WA and a frequent speaker on the business of Marketing Communications.
Mr Mino Intini B Bus (Accounting) Treasurer Mino Intini is the Director Regional Programs at the Department of Treasury and Finance – Building Management and Works. He has held a number of senior positions across the State Public Sector, including Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Child Protection. He has also worked internationally providing advice to the Western Samoan and Australian Governments on matters of foreign aid. Mino’s expertise is primarily in the areas of financial management, strategic planning and information management.
Dr Peter Chauvel MB BS(Sydney), MPH (Johns Hopkins), FAFRM, FRACP Peter Chauvel is a Consultant Paediatrician who has been involved with the treatment and management of children with cerebral palsy for 35 years. Between 1971 -1974, he trained at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Maryland USA under Prof Arnold Capute, one of the world’s leading teachers in the medical care of cerebral palsy. During this time he obtained the Masters of Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins University. Returning to Australia in 1974, Peter created the Department of Paediatric Rehabilitation at Princess Margaret Hospital and has always been closely involved in The Centre for Cerebral Palsy. He introduced the research and treatment program for botulinum toxin treatment of cerebral palsy in WA and was involved with the original research in lycra splinting now widely used by The Centre. From 2002 to 2009, Peter was Director of Cerebral Palsy Mobility Service at PMH. He now conducts a private practice in developmental paediatrics in Fremantle.
Mr Ian Curlewis B Com LLB Ian Curlewis is a partner with the law firm Lavan Legal. His area of practice is primarily in employment and equal opportunity law. Ian has provided a wide range of advice in relation to the Disability Discrimination Act and Equal Opportunity Act to various employers in both the public and private sectors.
Mr Paul Curtis BEc (Hons) PostgradDipBus GAICD Paul Curtis is a Non-executive Director of several private enterprises in which he is also a shareholder - including an engineering consultancy, an electrical contractor, a recruitment firm and a fabric wholesaler - and has been running his own business development consultancy since 2001. His skills are principally in the areas of initiating business expansion and general management, having assisted many WA businesses to prosper as a result of his training, coaching and consulting interventions. His fourth child Daniel (who has CP) and his family have been receiving the benefit of services from The Centre for Cerebral Palsy since 1996.
Mr Robert McDonald B Bus Rob McDonald has an adult daughter with cerebral palsy, who has been a client of The Centre for Cerebral Palsy since 1994. Rob recently left the State Public Sector after a 32 year career to establish his own consulting business. During his Public Sector career, he held a number of senior positions - Executive Director WA Police, Chief Executive Officer State Supply Commission, Director Agency Resources Department of Treasury and Finance and Director of Finance WA Police. He also served as a Board member of the Rottnest Island Authority.
Ms Melissa Northcott Melissa Northcott is a young person with cerebral palsy. She is a current serving member of the City of Armadale Disability Advisory Team, St John Ambulance Volunteer First Aid Service WA member and a current Member of the WA Youth Council after serving a three year term (finished in June 2011) as the Research Development Coordinator for the St John Australian Youth Council, focusing on youth development and the youth voice for all, which included developing numerous publications and policies and attending conferences. She was admitted to the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem as a Member, for her services to St John and the community, which is an international recognition. Melissa is a member of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Disability WA and is an inaugural Count Me In Ambassador promoting the State Government Disability Future Directions Strategy. She has qualifications in Public Relations/public speaking/leadership development and training.
Ms Jennifer Prior BA (Primary Ed) Jen Prior is the mother of four children, with her youngest daughter having Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy and has been involved with The Centre for Cerebral Palsy since 2008. Jen has a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Primary Education) and is currently completing her Bachelor of Science (Nursing). Prior to motherhood, Jen taught junior primary for 10 years. More recently she has moved into the public health system and has worked as a Nurse at Royal Perth Hospital. As a parent of a child with cerebral palsy, Jen brings with her the daily experiences of living with cerebral palsy, as well as knowledge and experiences of working within both the Education and health systems of Western Australia.
Mr Justin Scanlan MSc, BBS, MMII Justin is a Partner in PwC Consulting. He has 14 years of management consulting experience across a range of market sectors, including Government, Health and Mining experience. Justin delivers strategy, technology and performance improvement consulting in Western Australia. He has previously worked with clients such as BHP Billiton, WA Health, WA Education Department, Department of Treasury, WA Police, Housing Authority and others. Originally from Ireland Justin and his wife Wendy came to Australia in 2007. They have four children; Ben, Jessie, Finn and Tadgh.
Justin became involved with the centre through a close personal friend whose two year old son has CP. He initially helped with some fundraising activities and was inspired by all the terrific work the centre does.
Ms Laura Sewell Laura Sewell is an adult with cerebral palsy. Laura has served on The Centre’s Adults Services Committee, the Consumer Advisory Forum and Nomination Committee, and finds that there are many rewards being part of these committees as well as being able to support, represent, advocate and encourage other people with cerebral palsy. Laura is actively involved in many disability sector groups, including Women With Disabilities Inc and DADAA, which caters for disadvantaged and disabled people with an interest in art and drama. She has also been involved in developing and running a holiday program for disabled teenagers and their siblings and has worked on holidays away for disabled adults through the Activ Foundation. Laura has a University Diploma for Teacher Assistants, Diploma in Human Services and a Certificate in Disabilities. Laura currently works as an Education Assistant (Special Needs) at St Kieran’s Catholic Primary School. In serving on The Board of Directors Laura hopes to be a bigger voice for both adults living independently and children with cerebral palsy as they grow and develop into teenagers then adults. |
