Laurance Scrap Metals
Laurance Scrap Metals are one of Western Australia's largest independently owned and operated scrap metal recyclers and are among the most generous when it comes to supporting people with cerebral palsy.
Laurance Scrap Metals live up to their claim that ‘service is their business’ through their generous support of events like our Charity Golf Day. Paul Laurance registers three golf teams each year and invites his customers to join him for a ‘relaxing day on the green’ in appreciation for their business throughout the year. But this generous man doesn’t stop here! He also purchases items from the Auctions to help The Centre raise over $100,000 each year for CP!
Big W
Brenda a Big W employee from Belmont Forum provides an excellence service to Big W customers including Lenny an adult from our Community Living Program. Lenny who is a regular shopper at Big W always receives a warm welcome when he shops at the store. As Lenny’s carer I was at the Store enquiring about an item they had on sale of behalf of Lenny, at the same time Lenny came through the mall and spotted me speaking to Brenda, he burst into a huge grin and started laughing and they greeted each other like long time friends. At that point I ceased to exist. Brenda directed all her conversation to Lenny regarding his purchase and what he needed to do to receive the sale price. During their conversation Lenny looked at me and Brenda said “ Don’t look at your carer I’m talking to you” and in the context, Brenda did the right thing because she was actively encouraging Lenny to speak for himself which he would have done if I wasn’t there. Lenny saved $25 that day because Brenda took the time and effort to speak to him about his purchase options. What I witnessed that day between Lenny and Brenda encourages me to continue working for The Centre to help make a difference.
Retravision Belmont
The residents at Penryn Street Kewdale, one of The Centre for Cerebral Palsy’s 13 Community Homes recently purchased new TV’s for their rooms. Without exception they all went to Retravision Belmont, because each time they were treated with dignity and respect.
The service they provided was exceptional and the TV’s were all pre programmed for the individual residents to dial into their favourite TV stations. In addition there were several occasions when a staff member from Retravision were required to make house calls to do some fine tuning which they did without fuss and in a timely fashion.
