CP Week Star Profile

Name: Aidan

Age: 13

Suburb: Gosnells

Wants to be: An Artist

Type of CP: Left Hemiplegia

Why do you want to be an Artist?
I love drawing things I see. I would like to work at the Art Gallery or Museum and have a drawing shown there.

What are some of your proudest achievements?
Passing stage 4 in swimming, being Head Student last year in year 7, getting my Lions Club Bravery Award, starting high school.

What else do you like to do for fun?
Country drives, picnics, watching the Freo Dockers, watching cricket, going to the museum and art gallery, gardening and cooking.

To what extent does CP present a challenge?
Not being able to use my left hand makes it harder to do things. I also find it hard to walk too far. But I keep trying and give everything a go.

How do you overcome these challenges?
I sometimes have to use a wheelchair to go long distances and only having one hand it takes longer to do things and sometimes you can't do them.

What is one thing you would like people to understand about CP?
Just because we look or sound different, we still have feelings. Please treat us normally.

Aidan also has a wicked sense of humor!
