Postural Support Seating WorkshopsCP Tech have developed an interactive training package to give therapists the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in a specialist area of positioning and postural seating.
Postural Support Seating: Part One, focuses on assessment. Therapists from The Centre for Cerebral Palsy and external agencies have already undertaken training in this.
Topics that were covered included principles of seating, postural abnormalities, postural assessments, seating reviews and funding options.
At the completion of the first training module participants should be able to:
- Outline the benefits of postural seating
- Identify the key components of a neutral seating position
- Describe each of the key sitting abnormalities
- Perform a postural assessment
- Review a clients existing wheelchair insert
- Perform basic wheelchair maintenance
- Make basic insert adjustments and
- Apply for equipment funding through the appropriate source.
Modules 2 and 3 of the Postural Support and Seating Workshops are still being developed and will address specific seating problems, the design of therapeutic specifications and commerical alternatives. |
