School Aged Intervention Program

The School Age Intervention Program (SAIP) offers two therapy programs within metropolitan Perth for children aged six to 18. 

• SAIP CP - for clients with cerebral palsy and their families, and
• SAIP Endeavour - for clients with any disability.

Both programs have eligibility criteria.

The SAIP team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, community inclusion workers, social workers and support staff, all of whom work alongside your child and family to achieve agreed outcomes.

The key aims of SAIP are to:

• Assist children to use and enhance their current skills in all environments;
• Work with families to identify realistic goals;
• Work with people that are significant in the child's life, such as parents, siblings, grandparents, other family members, teachers and carers, in order to incorporate their goals into daily routines; and
• Support families to plan for the future.

• Using the principles of Family Centred Practice;
• Working in partnership with families to develop goals and priorities for both the child and their family;
• Linking children and families to services and resources that are already available in their local community, such as Scout/Guide groups and initiatives offered through local Councils;
• Empowering families and caregivers by providing them with relevant information, education and support;
• Working with children individually and/or in groups; and
• Conducting interactive information sessions for children and adults who play and work with children with cerebral palsy - these include Transition Forums, Teacher Workshops, and Peer Packages.

In order to be eligible for SAIP CP a child must be aged 6 to 18 and either attend the Sir David Brand School or have cerebral palsy as the primary diagnosis and attend a regular school, Education Support Unit, Education Support Centre to which The Centre for Cerebral Palsy is an eligible service provider, or be home schooled.

In order to be eligible for SAIP Endeavour a child must be of school age, be a permanent resident, live in the metropolitan area and have a disability.  We are unable to provide services to students at special ed schools other than Sir David Brand School.  Referrals can be made to SAIP by parents or other agencies.
