CP RegisterThe Australian CP Register is a confidential database of information about people with cerebral palsy in Australia. It was set up in 2003 as a national collaboration between all State and Territory CP registers in Australia and is located in the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in Perth.
The Western Australian CP Register is one of the longest-standing CP registers in the world, established by Professor Fiona Stanley in 1979, and contains cases born or living in WA from 1956 onwards. WA is recognised internationally as a leader in CP research.
The aims of the register are to:
- Provide a framework for research into the causes of cerebral palsy with a view to prevention;
- Provide a framework for research to evaluate the increasing number of therapies to treat cerebral palsy; and
- Provide information to assist in planning services for people with cerebral palsy and their families.
To participate in both State and national CP Registers simply visit the Australian CP Register website, become a member and submit the required details.
