The Center for Cerebral Palsy

National CP Awareness Week Schools Programme

Ranford Primary School did a 'gold coin chain' around
their fish pond to raise funds for The Centre

Every year during CP Awareness Week we invite and encourage schools across Western Australia to help raise awareness of CP amongst our younger generations by participating in our Schools Programme.

We have developed a free School Pack containing information, activities and promotional material to help students understand what it is like to have cerebral palsy and encourage them to see the person, not the disability.

If you would like to register your school for a free CP Week School Pack or organise a guest speaker please contact Elisha on 9443 0246 or elisha.moran@tccp.com.au.

The following resources are also available for download:

Word Jumble

Colouring Activity

Communication Without Speech Activity, Communication Board

Boccia Activity

Word Sleuth Activity

Other Ways Your School Can Get Involved Fact Sheet

Feedback from Teachers:

"The activities really illustrate the challenges faced by all children with disabilities, eg: playing games without verbal communication" - Holy Rosary-Siena Centre Doubleview

"There was a range of activities provided for different year levels. There was also lots of information about CP" - Hillarys Primary School

"I liked the clear way the information was set out and the simple yet informative activities" - Padbury Catholic Primary School

The Centre would like to thank all of the schools that have registered to participate in the CP Awareness Week Schools Programme in 2009. Over 90 schools across WA helped us celebrate CP Awareness Week by creating greater awareness and understanding of CP in our community.
